Will one load finish during a Philadelphia cleaning? This guide compares Whirlpool's cycle times with our booking estimates and lists what to settle before you book.
Hometress wording comes from our booking, checklist and services pages; cycle times come from Whirlpool's guide, checked October 31, 2026. The machine times are one maker's general figures, not your washer. We have not published whose machines are used or what happens to a load still running at the end, so this guide does not say.
The short answer
- The add-on: Laundry — wash, dry, fold is one $20 toggle and adds 60 minutes, as of October 31, 2026. It can be selected once, with no quantity control; this guide plans one load.
- One normal load: about 1 h 45 min from wash to dry, by Whirlpool's own total. That fits inside every visit length we publish if it starts when the visit does.
- One towel load: about 3 h 55 min by the same arithmetic. Standard plus the laundry add-on gives a 3-4 hour planning estimate, so it fits only toward the long end.
- What to do: choose one load and its items, set aside anything that should not go in a dryer, and write the plan in your arrival notes.
What Hometress publishes about laundry
The catalog offers one laundry selection. Dream Home lists two loads as a tier inclusion; that does not create a second purchasable add-on load. Labels differ by surface:
| Where | Exact wording | Left open |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog receipt, October 31, 2026 | "Laundry — wash, dry, fold": one $20 toggle, +60 minutes, no quantity | What a load is |
| Booking tile fallback | "Laundry Wash & Dry (Per Load)" | No quantity control |
| Cost guide registry | "Priced per load" | No second selectable load |
| Services page, add-ons | "Laundry — wash, dry, fold": "Run and folded while the home resets." | Whose machines and detergent |
| Help Center | "laundry folding" among extras you can add when booking, "each for a set price" | Anything about timing |
| Dream Home checklist | "Laundry Wash & Dry (2 Loads)" and "Change Bedsheets (2 bedrooms included)" | Which two loads |
The laundry add-on page carries the current price and minutes. Our guide to what house cleaners won't do lists laundry as bookable, not excluded, and the checklist guide shows which tier carries the two loads.
What the washer and dryer need
Whirlpool publishes cycle times for its own machines. A normal wash cycle "usually takes between 50 minutes to an hour to complete." The Bulky setting, "typically used for items like sheets, blankets or towels," "lasts about 55 minutes." A Heavy Duty wash "can take anywhere from 1 to just over 2 hours." Drying adds to that: "A normal drying cycle can add around 45 minutes to your laundry routine for a total washing and drying time of about an hour and 45 minutes." Whirlpool's drying note adds "heavy duty towel cycles taking close to 3 hours." It also says that "Load size, type, dampness and washer rinse temperature can all affect how long your clothes take to dry," and that doing a load "from start to finish can take as little as 45 minutes or as long as 5 hours."
The arithmetic below is ours, built only from those figures. It assumes one washer and one dryer, the 60-minute top of the normal wash range, "close to 3 hours" read as 180 minutes, and that the first load starts the minute the visit does. We have not published when in a visit a load is started, so read the last three columns as best cases. For Standard and Deep, we add the laundry selection's 60 minutes to the published 2-3 and 3-5 hour estimates: 3-4 and 4-6 hours. Dream Home already includes laundry, so its published 5-7 hours is shown without an extra selection. These estimate sums are ours, not a completion promise.
| Plan | Machine time | Standard + laundry, 3-4 hrs | Deep + laundry, 4-6 hrs | Dream Home, 5-7 hrs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One normal load (60 min wash, 45 min dry) | 1 h 45 min | Fits | Fits | Fits |
| One towel load (55 min bulky wash, 180 min dry) | 3 h 55 min | Only if the visit runs long | Fits | Fits |
How the rows add up: one normal load needs 60 + 45 = 105 minutes, or 1 h 45 min. One towel load needs 55 + 180 = 235 minutes, or 3 h 55 min. The single laundry selection costs $20 and adds 60 minutes once; no price or time here assumes buying a second load. "Fits" means the time is no longer than the shortest visit we publish for that tier. "Only if the visit runs long" means it is longer than the shortest and no longer than the longest. The base visit lengths are the booking page's estimates, and the homepage FAQ adds "depending on your home's size and state." The visit-length guide covers what moves them.
The 60 minutes in the add-on is the time it adds to the estimate, which is a different measure from the machine clock. A machine can run while other work goes on, so machine time is not hours of someone's work.
What is and is not promised
The add-on card and booking page do not specify load size, machines, detergent, start time, unfinished loads, put-away or label handling. Our separate wash-and-fold service page lists "Put away on request" and "Dried or laid flat to dry per label"; it does not say those terms apply to the add-on.
Before you book: settle the load
This is our planning, not a Hometress rule, and it is built only from the figures above.
- Pick one load. The laundry add-on can be selected once. One normal load fits every estimate in the table; one towel load needs Standard to run long. Dream Home's two-load inclusion is separate from the single add-on.
- Pick the kind of load. Towels and bedding move you toward the bottom rows. Whirlpool names sheets for the Bulky wash but gives no dry time for them, so we give none.
- Set aside what should not be dried. The FTC's Care Labeling Rule guidance addresses manufacturers and importers: "Labels for clothing must have a washing or drycleaning instruction" and garments "may be labeled 'Dryclean Only' only if you have evidence that washing will damage the garment." For our planning, read your own labels and set aside pieces that should not go in the dryer.
- Empty the pockets and note any quirk in your machines, such as a long cycle or a door that sticks.
- Write the plan in your arrival notes. The booking asks "Anything your cleaner should know on arrival?" Name the one load and its items, where the folded stack goes and what you want done with a load still running when the visit ends. Follow any answer you get; we have not published a default.
One made-up household
This household is invented to show the arithmetic, built only from the figures above. It is not a customer.
Jo and Sam, two adults in a rowhouse, a Standard visit with one load of towels. Standard plus the laundry selection gives a 3-4 hour estimate and the towels need 3 h 55 min, so they fit only toward the long end. They can book a normal load of clothes instead (1 h 45 min, which fits), choose Deep plus laundry (4-6 hours), where the towels fit the shortest estimate, or keep the towels for themselves. They write their one-load choice in the arrival notes and select the laundry add-on once.

Frequently asked questions
Does Hometress do laundry during a cleaning?
It is one bookable toggle, Laundry — wash, dry, fold, $20 for 60 added minutes as of October 31, 2026, with no quantity control. The add-on plans one load; the Dream Home checklist separately lists two loads. The guide to what cleaners won't do lists it as bookable, not excluded.
How long does a load of laundry take to wash and dry?
Whirlpool's total for a normal wash and dry is "about an hour and 45 minutes." Its heavy duty towel cycles take "close to 3 hours," and a load "can take as little as 45 minutes or as long as 5 hours." Your own machine's chart is the better source.
Does the add-on cover folding and putting away?
The booking reference card says "We sort + fold"; the services add-on card says "Run and folded while the home resets." The booking reference card and services add-on card do not mention put-away or labels. The separate wash-and-fold service page covers both, without saying its terms apply to the add-on. Say where you want the stack in your arrival notes.
